Every page, direct download or ZIP
The converter exports every page; it does not offer page-range selection. A one-page PDF produces one direct JPG download. A multi-page PDF produces a ZIP containing numbered images such as report-page-1.jpg, report-page-2.jpg, and report-page-3.jpg. Extract the ZIP and retain the numeric suffixes until the set has been checked.
JPG is well suited to photographed or scanned pages, gradients, and other continuous-tone content because lossy compression can reduce file size. It is less suitable for technical line art, tiny type, or repeated editing because compression artifacts can accumulate around sharp edges.
Rendered resolution, white background, and compression
PDF.js renders each page at scale 2. For an ordinary PDF whose base coordinate system corresponds to 72 points per inch, that is nominally about 144 pixels per inch. This is a rendering scale, not a guarantee of print resolution or recoverable source detail. A low-quality scan remains low quality, and a large page creates a larger canvas than a small page.
Before rendering, the canvas is filled white. Transparent areas therefore become white in the JPG. Each page is encoded at JPEG quality 0.9, a lossy setting that balances visual quality and size but can soften small text, thin lines, halftones, and barcodes. Inspect those elements at 100% zoom.
Tested September 14, 2026 in Chrome through the current Converttwo browser converter. The searchable source PDF was 13,345 bytes and contained six Letter pages. The result was a 1,449,147-byte ZIP with six entries, named sample-conversion-source-page-1.jpg through sample-conversion-source-page-6.jpg. Every decoded page image measured 1224x1584 pixels; the first JPG was 77,319 bytes.
Method: run the actual PDF to JPG mode, extract and list the ZIP, count and decode the images, then compare page count, order, and dimensions with the source. This one simple sample does not predict results for other documents.
The output is an image, not a PDF page
JPG contains rendered pixels only. Searchable text, vector paths, selectable content, links, forms, bookmarks, annotations as interactive objects, layers, attachments, accessibility tags, digital signatures, page boxes, and source PDF metadata are not represented. An annotation appearance may be visible because it was painted into the page, but its object and behavior are gone.
Use the JPG as a derivative for viewing or image workflows, not as the only archival master. Keep the source PDF whenever document structure, provenance, accessibility, or legal verification may matter later.
Input limits, browser capacity, and privacy
One PDF up to 50 MiB is accepted. The practical limit can be lower because every page expands into an in-memory canvas. High-resolution scans, oversized page dimensions, complex drawings, or many pages can reach browser memory or canvas limits even when the compressed PDF is below 50 MiB. Close unnecessary tabs and process shorter documents where possible.
Rendering and packaging occur in the browser, and selected PDF content is not sent to the document-conversion API. The page still loads third-party assets such as scripts and fonts, so it is not a fully offline environment. Consult the Privacy Policy and local handling requirements for sensitive documents.
The converter has no password prompt. Password-protected or encrypted PDFs may fail. Only create an unlocked working copy when you have authorization.
When PDF to JPG is the wrong choice
- Choose PDF to PNG for sharp diagrams, UI captures, line art, or text when lossless storage of rendered pixels matters more than compact files.
- Keep PDF when search, selection, links, forms, accessibility, annotations, signatures, vector scaling, or multipage structure is required.
- Use an OCR workflow when the goal is searchable text from scanned pages.
- Use print-production software when exact color handling or high-resolution press output matters.
Troubleshooting JPG exports
Text or lines look blurry
JPG is lossy and the page is rasterized at a fixed scale. Try PNG for cleaner rendered edges, or preserve the PDF when vectors and selectable text are required.
I expected one image but received a ZIP
Only a one-page PDF downloads directly. Multi-page files are packaged as a ZIP so every numbered page can be delivered together.
Transparent artwork became white
The converter deliberately fills the canvas white before rendering. JPG has no transparency channel.
The conversion stalls
Close other heavy tabs and retry with a shorter or less complex PDF. Compressed file size does not reflect the memory needed for decoded page canvases.

Can I export only page 4?
No. Every page is exported. For a multi-page file, extract the ZIP and keep the numbered JPG you need.
Does JPG quality 0.9 mean 90% resolution?
No. It is the browser encoder's compression-quality parameter. Pixel dimensions come from the scale-2 rendering step.
Will text remain searchable?
No. Visible letters become pixels in the JPG.
